OCD

OCD, or Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, is a complex mental health condition where people have these ongoing, unwanted thoughts or fears — those are the obsessions. They can be all sorts of things, like fears about germs or needing things to be in perfect order. These thoughts are super persistent and often distressing.

Then, to try and get some relief from these obsessions, people with OCD feel compelled to do certain repetitive behaviors — these are the compulsions. It could be stuff like washing hands over and over, checking things repeatedly, or following rigid routines. The tricky part is that these compulsions are like a temporary fix; they don’t really solve the underlying anxiety or fear, so the cycle just keeps going.

OCD & TMS

TMS therapy has been showing some promising results for people with OCD. You know how OCD involves those persistent, unwanted thoughts and the repetitive behaviors that follow? Well, TMS works on the brain to help ease that cycle.

In OCD, certain parts of the brain, especially those that deal with controlling thoughts and behaviors, might be in overdrive or not functioning as they should. TMS uses magnetic fields to stimulate these specific areas of the brain. It’s kind of like rebooting a computer that’s stuck.
